A few months ago Joe became a finalist in the Guardian's eBay challenge - the challenge being to make as much money as you can by running a business on eBay. Joe's business is to buy broken laptops, strip them and sell the parts for spares.
He's writing a blog about how it's all going at LaptopScrapyard. If you're after a part for your broken laptop there's a chance he might have it in his eBay store that sells all of his laptop parts.
Maybe you have a broken laptop that you don't want to fix you want to sell/give him so he can use it for parts! Just a thought!
*blushes*
A link! And I didn't even beg for it! (much)
There's another month left to go in the competition, which doesn't seem like long at all. The winner at the end of that wins an extra £2500. I promise to buy a drink for anyone who purchases something from me if I win :D
Posted by: Joe on April 1, 2007 10:27 AMWill you buy a drink for people who give you things as well? You up this way any time soon? I've just thought that I have a Sony Vaio that could be broken down for parts.
Posted by: Chris on April 3, 2007 6:31 PMDrinks for all! Will have to come up to see you soon.
Especially anyone who feels like buying my lovely easter hamper: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260103296504
We've been set a challenge to sell that for as much as possible :)
Posted by: Joe on April 4, 2007 11:09 AMLooks like one of your competitors is beating you having managed to get more than twice as much for their hamper.
Posted by: Chris on April 4, 2007 4:12 PM£56 -v- £107
*questions Chris's maths skills*
As I'm sure you've read in my latest blog entry, I actually used eBay's tools and attracted about 10 times as much traffic to my listing.
I think he's had the least amount of traffic, yet somehow attracted the highest bids.
Posted by: Joe on April 5, 2007 8:17 PMThe key was that I said "beating", my post was before the end of the auction and I think yours was only around the £40 point at that time.
They may well have got one of their friends to buy it or something, who knows.
Well done anyway.
