Looks like that poll went ok...

So far nobody has managed to get the question wrong... odd that!? I'd have thought that at least one reader would have been a smart arse and tried to sway the results.

Well... apparantly he was moaning about my use of English language again in the pub yesterday. Maybe he just finds it hard to understand me because he has no idea what real English looks like - it figures as he has enough issues understanding simple dialog boxes on the computer...

He's now got my mobile phone number :-( Big pile of balls. I know he'll phone at the most inappropriate moments - such as when I'm asleep. I decided it made sense to put my phone on silent last night as I'd had a late night and didn't want disturbing by one of the most selfish and demanding pratts in the land. Sure enough when I woke up at about 11.30 I'd had a missed call from him. At 10:38am, so it wouldn't have been the end of the world... well it would, 'cause I'd have only had 5 hours sleep and would have probably been drunk!

I know that at sometime I'll forget to put my phone on to silent - why should I have to remember to put my phone on silent at night just 'cause some ID10T wants to know how to do some inane task with his computer...

So, where's this leading...

Well... I've made a silent ringtone and put him in a caller group all of his own (I've used the VIP group as a point of irony) and made this ring with the silent ringtone... cunning, no? I'd orignally thought I could get my phone to ring on all the groups except the VIP one, however due to whole crapness of the groups setup on my phone (Nokia 7210) that would also mean that people who are in 'No Group' won't make the phone ring.

He'll still be able to make my phone make noise by sending me a text - but aleast the noise won't go on and on... it might end up with me getting out of bed to read the damn message thinking it might be important though...

Anyways... I've decided that some people might want my 'non-phonic' ringtone...

Download: Ed's 'Non-phonic' Ringtone
(59 bytes 0.4 seconds on a 1200bps modem)

Download: Ed's 'Non-phonic' Ringtone Version 2
(180 bytes 1.2 seconds on a 1200bps modem)

Let me know in the comments if you've downloaded it and then it'll make me feel like I've been useful!

Why not just be honest with him and tell him that he's too time consuming and you don't have time to help him out any more, especially when he's been slagging you off behind your back.

It's got to be better than faffing around ignoring him. If he continues to call up after that, then just ring your phone provider, tell them he's making nuscience calls and they will barr him from calling you. Job sorted :)

Could do. My problem is that I like to try and help everyone and don't want to tell him to get lost....

On another note, he's just called me and my silent ringtone crashes the phone quite spectacularly - it kills the audio altogther and then sets it off vibrating with no way to stop it... I'll make a new one which is just very very quiet... but still got some notes!

OK, so the silent ringtone in the last message crashes my phone quite quickly... If you answer the call it... (continued: Silent Ring Tone...)

Do you get paid for dealing with his idiocy?

When I go and see him I get paid.

I've only just started doing the remote thing because I got fed up of going to see him - he lives miles away - I can also watch the TV/cook/eat food/talk to mum on the phone whilst helping him - unfortunatly this doesn't mean he's there to cross my palm with silver - I've got him putting beers behind the bar for me - but hardly enough to cover the time.

To be fair it's not the time that bothers me now because I can be doing other stuff and just snubb him at will (dead easy to do when you know you're getting peanuts) - I've helped many a person over MSN to do something and don't send them an invoice! It's the pure frustration that I need remunerating for at the moment!

That said it's a laugh talking about /him/ behind /his/ back ;-)
