I thought I'd write about my first ever trip to Alton Towers.
Yeah, it was good. Woo. Still thought it was a bit of a damp squib though. The only ride which worried me 'slightly' was Oblivion, so because I was a AT virign, the people I was with thought that'd be a good ride to go on first. Fair enough I suppose. Sort of meant that the rest of the rides went downhill (heh) from then onwards though. Every ride is too damn short, you blink and it's all over.
Nemesis was a tad disappointing - still not sure it was worth the extra wait to ride it from the front. Might have been better to not actally see what was about to come. I didn't get to try it from further back so I can't say - maybe if I go again I'll try that. I'd got some swear words stored up to shout out when I underwent some extreme g. Unfortantly the only swearing I did was "This is bollocks" whilst going round an inversion.
Hex was cool in a fuck around with your sense of perception kind of way.
Air... was cool, even though it broken and made my go dizzy whilst hanging me there.
Rita. Hmmm. I suppose this was also cool. After much discussions and calculations we worked out it accellerated much more quickly that the vertical drop of Oblivion, but did it in a horizontal straight line. I was humoured by the Mexican wave of "Jesus Christ's" that rippled back down the train as we pulled into the station.

I decided that blogging from a roller coaster wasn't the wisest idea - mainly due to me not reckoing GPRS could cope rather the dropping the phone aspect... decided to take a video of the Mine Train though. The reference asking Moisty if he's dry yet would be something to do with the Rapids ride...
So yeah all in all a good day out. I'm glad to be able to say that I've finially been! Now all I have to do is find myself a proper theme park abroad somewhere with slightly longer rides to keep me more entertained and get me more scared.
Florida, anyone?
Sadly rollercoasters don't really get much longer than the ones at AT. This is mainly because they'd be throwing you about even more and regular boring people would be ill more often. And I'm pretty sure theme parks HATE puke.
If I had to reccomend anywhere it'd be Bush Gardens in Florida. Had a good secetion of excellent rides, but we are talking about 1994 here!
Posted by: Russ on May 24, 2005 10:57 PMI went there quite recently... they have a new one coming that looks crazy huge. I cant comment on most of the stuff there, i didnt go on anything that looked roller coasterish, except the one just as you walked in, and that was enough!
