Lol! Yeah I have to say I prefer McDonalds as well. The worst BK staffwise is definately the one on Waterloo station. A particular incident in this establishment that sticks in my mind was:

Him: Yes please?
Me: Hi, Bacon Double Cheeseburger meal please mate.
Him: What size?
Me(mind on something else): Standard.
Him: Eh?

His English was so poor that he didn't know what "standard" meant. He was only programmed to understand "regular."

However, the absolute worst fast food restaurant staff can generally be found in motorway service stations in my experience.

Moved on to a food processing plant now... (networking... not putting food in boxes...)

Add to the list the fact that the food (especially the chips) is mucho crappy, and always makes me feel worse after eating it than I did before when I was hungry.

Thought I'd update you... we decided that for lunch today a burger would be required. So we ended up in BK again...

Different people were serving though...

This time my request for a Chicken Wopper was turned down... because of 'equipment failure'. I had to settle for a Chicken Royale meal.

This is good as it means that I can use my NUS card for a pound off on these means :-) Think I'll be on Chicken Royales again if I end up there again. Service wasn't 'as' bad this time, although I did nearly end up with Regular fries, when I quite clearly went large...

If your description is accurate I'd never visit Burger King. I hate fast food anyway - the first (and indeed last) time I went to McDonalds I was violently sick straight afterwards. The impression (and what I've heard) about BK, McD's et al is that they generally serve sub-standard greasy food and have policies of extremely cheap labour, slavishly employing people and giving them terrible working conditions. I would like to be proved wrong but...

I keep getting emails from the various graduate recruitment websites that I'm registered with inviting me to become a McDonalds manager. Hmmm, how about no.

That having been said, I do think McDonalds are one of the better fast food outlets in this country. They very rarely poison me, and do seem to be making at least a vague effort to increase product quality. Oh, and they do half decent ice cream.

Of course, in the US, you get proper burgers. Proper pizzas as well. I think a lot of the problem is that the UK just doesn't seem to able to do fast food.

I think Trab hit the nail on the head - We just can't do fast food - it's a service thing, and we just aint nice enough to cope!

Walk into a wendy's or a BK or whatever in the states and you spend longer saying 'hi, how are you' 'have a nice day' etc than it takes to get your food - and that's even after you've asked for it without letuce but with extra oinions and mayo and no ice in you're mountain dew - and they get it right everytime, and they are always (or appear to be) delighted to have served you. What more can you ask? Oh and the burgers seem to be twice as big, 5 times as tasty and 600% less greasy.

About the only similarities between britsh and american fast food outlets are the logo and the names of the burgers. Pitiful.

Burger King are awful but McDonalds seem to get all the crap.

It's always McDonalds someone goes to when doing a "what's really in fast food?" programme or the "what would happen to a person if they only eat mcdonalds" etc.

I love the way McDonalds have taken super-size out and introduced all the salads to avoid getting sued, whearas Burger King are currently TV advertising a double burger but wait - this isn't an ordinary double burger - we've made it even fattier by putting fries in the burger bun aswell - but don't worry, you can still order super size fries aswell!

Other reasons bk are crap - 10 minute wait for anything, far too many onions so your breath smells and throat hurts all day, no matter how much chewing gum/coffee/cigarettes/other smelly things you eat etc....

As for BK staffwise, classic one is a few months ago, i was at BK near King's Cross station, and it was late, weekday, just me and a tramp in front in the cue. The one girl on the counter spent literally at least 5 minutes discussing all the possiblities of what he could order with him, before the manger, who had been sat down doing the accounts at a table, got so pissed off he said "for fuck's sake" very loudly and opened another till to serve me!

The fact that mcdonalds have started rolling out wifi in a lot of their drive throughs is yet another reason they're better.

As for mcdonalds treating staff badly, they can't be, they're "lovin' it" :)

Thats odd... It seems to be the other way around where I come from. McDonalds is more expensive and comes in smaller portions, the Burger King uses boxes for its fries, the cashiers would never serve you at your table if their life depended on it at either restaurant, and half the employees at McDonalds have a hard time understanding orders.

For me all it comes down to is taste and the truth is that BK burgers taste far better than McDonalds burgers. I taste a McDonalds burger and get rubber in a cardboard, whereas i go to BK and i taste a juicy, tender grilled burger with onions in the salad to complement. This makes all the stupid reasons you said irelenant.
McDonalds are a giant money thirsty tacky corporation that doesn't care what they 're selling as long as they make a bit of cash. They sell to stupid people that they've fooled into thinking that the tacky image is better than what matters. To highten this image they use the epuivalent in the music indistry; the abomination Justin Timnberlake for their marketing capaignes. So just think about that if any one actually gets round to reading this.

I don't really think either BK or McDonalds actually taste like "proper" burgers. They have very different tates I agree, but I think it's just down to personal preference. For me, McDonalds wins.

Had a BK at Leicester Forest East services last night. Wasn't over impressed.

i've always found (IMO) the whopper (the only reason for actually entering a BK) to taste much better than a big mac, but while thinking about this concept it occured to me that food tastes better when you are hungry... and considering that the wait time in the queue at BK is often longer than my regualr interval between meals it is hardly a fair scientific test.
Perhaps to remove the variables i should stand at the back of McD's for 15+ minutes before queuing up for my burger.

What about the disgusting ad that Burger King currently has running showing a man with an amputated arm being fitted with a new prosthesis that "fits" the new Burger King hamburger. Maybe that ad should be sent to some focus groups to see if it will actually sell more burgers or appaul the general public. Maybe the ad agency that created it is goign for some message to the general public htat we are nto aware of.

yeah i work at mcdonalds but i only like it for the management positions as u can earn upto £42,000 a year as a business manager now no company offers this aount of money to unskilled people but it will take a few years

Chicken Royal is simple nicest burger in the world period !!!! MacDonalds food is gone in 2 bites ! Hence the price difference ! Cant speak for BK or McD's in ur area but in Ireland BK is definately none of the above in fact its McD's thats like the original post !

Fried over grilled makes BK healther AND the have a salad menu btw BEFORE McD intoruced it, they only advertise because the were put on the spot no other reason !
Plus McD put SUGAR in mayo ! How healthy is that ohh an in the dips too !

whilst having the unpleasure of working for both bk and mcd (yes they do treat staff like crap), I personally wouldn't eat there again. On one occassion when working at BK heathrow airport many moons ago, the entire spurs team turned up to order their food and the bloke next to me decided to gob in one of the cheeseburgers he was making as he was an arsenal fan...I think teddy sheringham or nick barmby ended up eating that. BK treat their staff like morons and McD treat their staff like shit. All for 3.90ph + free chicken sandwich. Sad...very sad. Enough said. KFC wins all round.

Me and my friends went to burger king on 16/2/2006 and the women who served us was quite happy to stand there and touch her greasy face and very greasy hair then rub her eyes and for that matter pick at her arse, a little while after she started to dress her self in the kicthen and i would just like to point out that this women had manager on her badge, she was sarcastic to someone to another member of staff that walked in and she said "fUCKING HELL YOUR ON TIME" during this time we had still not orded our meals she put her order in for what she wanted and blatantly ignored us as she could not wait to feed her own hunger, when we finally got our meals as we sat there feeling quite ill and debating whether to eat our meals or not people were walking in and out of the kithen with out door coats on that looked like they had never seen a washing machine before it was appauling i have never seen anything like it in my life if they dont like where they work then they shouldnt work there.

I HAVE WORKED FOR BOTH MC DONALDS AND BURGER KING. I USED TO GET PAID FORTNIGHTLY INTO MY BANK AND BURGER KING I USED TO GET PAID EVERY WEEK IN CASH WITH A WAGE SLIP. At our local hospital, my sister and I ordered a Burger King cheese burger, chips, cup of tea and an ice cream.
My ice cream was runny and discusting. I came home last night feeling really ill and, low and behold, was up all night with pain and diahorreah. Today, the pain and frequent toilet visits are still happening.
The Burger King assistant, couldn't understand english and got the order wrong, he also, I think, filled my ice cream cup with the slosh, old slosh that were still in the pipes into my cup. In fact, when I took a few spoonfuls, I couldn't find the ice cream as it was slushy so I left it. Just as well I did otherwise I think I would have ended up IN hospital instead of visiting my sister!
