I appear to have become a bit lapse with my updating of this blog... can't think what might have happened(!?)
Just wasted a large amount of my time completing XIII. Quite a challenging game... well the boss parts were! Now I've not got an excuse for stopping doing my work. Ant was quite correct it was a really poor ending :( Oh well... can't wait for the sequel though... storyline was quite rivetting with loads of twists and the like. But what will the squell be called XIII II?
You can buy XIII from Amazon:
And if you need help with completing the game you might want to buy the XIII Official Strategy Guide. I can't vouch for how good the book is because I didn't need any help :)
Think I've pretty much sold my soul to Amazon on that post there :)
Commision payments a bit down Ed? :-)
Posted by: TraB on February 25, 2004 4:58 PMThe sequel to game XIII is in the process of completion.
Part two of the adventure will continue where it left off. The current working title is XIII.II
(thirteen point two).
Just thought I'd let you know.
fuck all
Posted by: uhaad on January 18, 2005 7:05 PMi cant wait for the sequel to be released, it will be brilliant.
Posted by: Ash on January 31, 2005 1:55 PMwhere can i find out more about the sequel to XIII? and when will iut be released? how do you know the working title etc - i can't find anything about a sequel on the web except this blog
Posted by: neo on February 5, 2005 12:17 AMXIII has to be one of my favorite games of all time. I think the whole game is bloody brilliant. The story line and the manner in which the game communicates the story rules. I don't care about any new fancy technology, I just want more of the story and more of the awesome gameplay. If they make a sequel, I hope they don't screw with the formula... but knowing how things get done, they prolly will and they will kill a potential franchise game.
Posted by: Spineless on March 24, 2005 8:06 PMI work for Ubisoft, and as of the moment, we currently are pursuing a sequel to XIII. We are considering a title of "I Killed The Mongoose". This game will consists of somewhat similar gameplay, but with mostly new characters. It will primarily be a more public involvment as relation to interaction with pedestrians. The main charcter, Fly, will be a villian, that no longer seeks to discover his past, but only to kill all. It will be cell shaded as XIII, yet mixed with a Grand Theft Auto type environment in which the obejective will be world domination. The idea we are strongly pursuing is that of # XIII turning on Jones, Carrington, etc. He/YOU will then team up with #1 (Sherridan) and Rowland's widow Kim in a quest to control not only the U.S., but Japan and certain parts of Europe as well. Keep in mind that this is only the rough gameplan layout, and this game will have more twists and turns than a pretzel. Plus, we are going to stick with the beautiful unique graphics as in "XIII". I cannot speak further of this project, but look for commercials/promotions for this sequel to hit the market sometime by mid October, 2006. I will entertain questions to the best of my ability without getting into trouble with the corp. E-mail matt_hatchet@comcast.com
Posted by: Ubisoft Rep. on April 3, 2005 8:09 AMI don't buy it. Prove you work for UBISOFT. Otherwise I call Bullshit on your post.
Posted by: Bob on April 8, 2005 5:57 PMThere is no sequel to XIII.The guy above was messing with you. When CGW interviewed Ubisoft ,they were told by the directors that the chances of a sequel are very slim due to lack of funding and more importantly the game's commercial disaster in the market.Regardless, a storyboard and general concept for the next game was created infasct at the time of the first game. However we may still look for some hope that the game's sequel does come out to end the storyt of a true masterpiece. For now things DONT look good.
Posted by: blackpearl on May 21, 2005 10:19 PMOf course that guy was bull shitting you, you can't change the formula drastically like that or the story, if it is based on an original story in a French cartoon!
Posted by: Brantyman on June 5, 2005 5:46 PMTrue, plus openly giving out his (non-Ubisoft)email address, inviting you to submit questions, was a bit too obvious...
Shame there's no better news about a Sequel at this time. I'm very disappointing that Ubisoft are after quick financial success, rather than sticking to something like a long lasting masterpiece, that over time I'm sure will sell just as many copies - if not more - than other games in the first three months, and then disappear into nothingness.
XIII might have simply overhyped when it came out, or maybe it was just way ahead if its time.
Posted by: Jay247 on June 12, 2005 4:43 AMYeah there is no sequel to be made at all.
great gameplay but the story sucks...
WHAT? No Sequal? It's not fare. They can't do this to us. I certainly want to know what happenes...Where is HER SON!! The suspence is killing me. I want to know...I WANT TO KNOW!!!!!
T-T
Posted by: Ruberduckyman on July 11, 2005 10:52 PMI think if they put an open ending in the first game they are almost forced to make a sequel:/
Posted by: Broken on July 30, 2005 2:12 PMUnless they don't feel like pouring the money into it, and really don't care all too much about an already dead game.
Posted by: Caboose on August 14, 2005 7:29 AMguys // would somebody warn me when the XII.II is realeased coz i can't wait till that and i spended time looking to know that ther would be a another part of the game so if any one can help me plz do my e-mail is ic_wheener@yahoo.com

Posted by: marshall on September 16, 2005 7:41 PMif ubisoft is making a sequel to xiii ( which is a small chance) it would br great but it has been over years now... usually game up to 3 years would of hada sequel by then...
Posted by: -DnD-DenD359 on December 20, 2005 12:42 AMman....kami found that maybe Ubisoft passed XIII to EA...and this is why nobody heard of a sequel so far
Posted by: Destroyer on December 20, 2005 11:51 AMhey... if Ubi passed the game to EA,, we're gonna hear of a bunch of sequels. they wont stop 'til the 10th XIII game has come out
Posted by: first lady on December 20, 2005 1:45 PMThere will definately be no more XIII from Ubisoft. They want to continue with that Turd of a game 'Prince of Persia'. They might as well take the game off the market because the more people who complete it a realise that the ending is just 'To be Continued', the more people who are going to be asking for a sequel. Another publisher might pick up the game, true, but it might lose it's touch...
Proof - http://www.ferrago.com/story/2897
Posted by: Tasty on January 6, 2006 7:40 PMI have to agree that the xiii game sequel will never get done wether by EA or Ubisoft. Game makers that end their games with cliffhangers should by all rights be accountable for following up on there product, whether sales were poor or not.
Another example, the sequel to Psi-ops the mindgate conspiracy was dropped when clearly it was 'to be continued' in 'part 2'.
Hopefully developers won't be so cocky in the future when they make games with cliffhanger endings.
well that one dude who "worked for Ubisoft" said it should hit the market by October of this year...so that's like in 8 months. not bad considering how Kingdom Hearts came out on 2001 or something and the sequel still hasn't come out (supposively it comes out spring this year after being delayed like 5 times). i think XIII sequel will come out. and i don't mind waiting 8 months or a year cuz i actually just finished the game (lolz) and was surfing for some sequel news. so basically, while you ppl have been waiting many years i only wait like 8 months or so. you suck. k thx bye.
Posted by: abc on February 6, 2006 12:53 AM:'(i want a squel!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Rob on February 20, 2006 1:15 PMlol cant spell!
Posted by: Rob on February 20, 2006 1:18 PMDon't worry, Rob, not a lot of people on this thread can spell (suspence? supposively?). As for a sequel to XIII, I think UBIsoft needs to peel their lazy asses off the couch and work on one. It's not like they're poor or anything. After all the dough they've pulled in on their Prince of Persia series, I think they can afford to pump out a sequel, even if the first one did iffy sales-wise. Maybe they shouldn't have assumed it would do well so they could leave it with a cliff-hanger.
Posted by: Tom on March 4, 2006 12:28 AM First off, I agree with Bob and call bullsh** on the person who claims he's an 'ubisoft rep'.
Secondly, Kindomhearts 2 was out in japan a long time ago, (north america's only getting it now) and lastly, I repeat, a sequel is not going to happen because Ubisoft and EA pump out sequels like no tomorow, yes, but only for franchises that have sold well {ex. Prince of Persia, Madden, Splintercell}
As much as I want a sequel to the awesome fps that was xiii, I'm not going to hold my breath for it.
I just finished the game 10 mins ago and went straight to google for a sequel. Great game, deserves a sequel, and definitely so with that asshole finish.
If they don't finish the story, take them out and shoot them XIII style. They've only done half the job on this game!
Alright so, like everyone else on this blog besides that assholes who keep saying they know all this info about the game, I really wants a sequel to this game.
This game did come out late 2003 and the odds of a sequel isn't likely which upsets everyone.
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/433509395
not sure if that is real or not but i signed it, number 599, it's a petition for putitng out a sequeal to XIII.
I think we should all sign this petition AND start trying to email Ubisoft and find out if they are even thinking about a sequel or not.
Anyway, SIGN THAT PETETION FOR XIII 2 TO COME OUT!!
Posted by: Andrew on March 17, 2006 8:20 PMYeah, online petitions aren't worth the paper they're not printed on. Sadly, Ubi can continue to make a million Silent Hunters (don't get me wrong, they're great but very niche market), but can't continue a game that had at least moderate showing (I think it's been more of a sleeper hit).
Bummer. Maybe they shouldn't have dubbed it into 4 different languages, although I imagine that didn't drive the costs up spectacularly.
Posted by: Greg on March 23, 2006 1:39 AMThey could at least release a tiny expansion pack to end the story.
"To be continued" endings only work if they are...well, continued.
Just played it. Think it's awesome. Not many games stay graphically stunning and with an immersive storyline after 3 years. Hasn't dated a bit and I wonder why it wasn't a commercial success?
Posted by: The Mongoose on May 29, 2006 11:39 PMI know for those who blogged in to find out if there is any luck of a sequel to XIII: the game. I've waited for this as well, until when I googled it right here (UK), which I justed started reading all the comments on a subject of XIII: the game. Just when I completed the game, I started to think about what's going happen be like [if possibly] in the second chapter of the hit original game, which will eventually be on the PC, PS and xbox console.
Just a matter of time when this game will ever be of any developments, and the completion details be of.
This was surely one of the best cel-shaded games, if shooters ever (next to halo). I have beaten the game countless times and keep waiting for news of a sequel but I guess we'll just have to keep on waiting. There was a rumour that there would be news if any, revealed on XIII.II either this month or the next so we have something to wait on during the holidays.
The guy who said he worked at Ubisoft was a complete idiot, what he explained in the sequel made absolutely no sense. In the sequel it is likely to continue the comics where you confront Wally in the room, and are taken away from the party where... well I don't want to spoil it, but if you want to know what happens (I've read the comics) don't hesitate to e-mail me: kill7er@yahoo.com
I feel that even though the game didn't sell well, if you oblige yourself during a game creation process to have a "to be continued" ending, then you're basically agreeing upon continuing the game until the story is told and finished. After that do what you want, make it a party game, make a new franchise out of it, doesn't matter. But with a genius story/plot like the one in XII, why would you leave the cliffhanger un-touched? Give us a sign Ubisoft, we know you're only working on 2 or 3 projects right now!
Posted by: Wally Sheridan on October 5, 2006 10:24 PMi think the people who made the game are fucking barstads saying to be continued and not continuing it
Posted by: that guy on October 11, 2006 8:22 PMi want to rape whoever decided not to make a sequel.
Posted by: Therapist on October 16, 2006 7:59 PMfuck yeah XIII is one of the best shooters ever it kicks the ass of the monstrosity that is halo (which was blatantly ripped off of unreal tournament and is not even as good) ive been sitting back waiting for this sequel for fucking time now. I was under the impression XIII sold pretty goddamn well i know a load of people that have it.
the cell shading is amazing i love cell shaded games, zelda was immense incedentally the new zelda is nearly out woot! haha. just goddamn hate the people who moan about cell shading
great story loved it probably the game ive spent most time playing ever someone should get in touch with ubisoft and give them a good fucking talking to
Posted by: shroom on October 21, 2006 1:38 PMNobody seems to mention the fact there is an editor with this game. I am certain that Ubisoft is not coming out with a sequel, a small force of pissed off fans could make one hell of a mod. Distribute it as "fanware" so nobody gets in any trouble. Well that's how I would go about finishing someones unfinished work.
Posted by: Jabhacksoul on April 30, 2007 11:11 AMI wish there really was some sign that a sequel was in the works other than the "to be continued" at the end of the game. However, you kinda have to admire the symmetry of it. XIII washes up on the beach with amnesia, Bourne Identity style, and it ends with him on the boat, possibly under similar circumstances to the ones that got him on that beach in the fist place. redundancy.
email me, Sahdow@gmail.com with any replies.
awwww man...i loved this game...atrue legend...and what the hell is wrong with the public? the gameing world has lost its touch with this un-sung hero.... but why are you all saying "someone needs to contact ubisoft" if you feel so pissed (like me at the mo') you'd have the courage to e-mail them yourself.....someone give me there address and i will do it myself
Posted by: scottycool on December 12, 2007 9:35 AMwell, there is a movie going on and it will be realesed in 2008!! I've heard a romour, i repeat, i heard a romour (Can be false), that ubisoft did put an ammount of mney helping the movie makers. So that if the movie goes well and sells well, they will realese the Sequel.
Posted by: Daquaw on February 26, 2008 6:25 PMWell it's October 2008 and no movie, no sequel no nothing in several years - a crying shame!
Just randomly came across my copy of XIII a few days ago, it's quality and I hope a sequel eventually shows up...
