Crap, my blog's gone boring!

Sorry folks, just been reading my blog and it ain't like the good old days is it? Arse. Well if you hadn't like guessed that's 'cause my stimulus for blog posts is miles away :)

How about a moan? Similar to the `backtick' one. This time is a misheard lyrics thing that's really really starting to piss me off.

Oh place your hands, on my hope,
Run your fingers through my soul,
And the way that I feel right now,
Oh Lord it may go.

So place your hands, on my hope,
Run your fingers through my soul,
And the way that we feel right now,
Oh Lord it may go.

Put your hands on, put your hands on.
Put your hands on, put your hands on.
Put your hands on, put your hands on.
Put your hands on, put your hands on.

You know you cannot hide, from what's inside,
You know you cannot hide, from what's inside.
So I ask of you to help me through,
I ask of you this thing to do.

Put your hands on, put your hands on.
Put your hands on, put your hands on.

So lay me down, for a while,
Join my body with my mind,
And I cried at the Common One,
For weeks aft' he died.

Put your hands on, put your hands on.
Put your hands on, put your hands on.
Put your hands on, put your hands on.
Put your hands on, put your hands on.

And the way that we feel right now,
Oh Lord it may go

Reef - Place your Hands

I challenge you to count the time the word 'up' is mentioned. Good. Now stop singing the word (and putting your hands 'up') when you hear the song in a frigging nightclub.

Did you know the right lyrics?
Yes
Yes, but I sing the wrong ones.
I don't recognise the lyrics I've heard them so wrong.
Crap, are those really the lyrics? I'm so deaf.

You didn't give a "yes, I know the lyrics, but I'm not convinced you do" option. I'm certain you've got it wrong somewhere. Unless you've copied it from the sleeve notes, in which case I now look stupid.

Kind of spoils it now though. Picture the scene, in a club, everyone jumping up and down with their hands in the air and you'll be putting your hands on. Hands on what? Think i'll continue with the ex lyrics.

I knew someone would say that. If your certain... where are you certain I've got it wrong and no, I didn't copy it from the sleve I downloaded it on t'internet, but all the sites have the same lyrics - well apart from the 'up' ones ;-)

Well according to the sleeve notes the lyrics are:

Oh, Place your hands on my hope,
Run your fingers through my soul,
And the way that I feel right now - Oh Lord it may go.
So place your hands on my hope
run your fingers through my soul.
And the way that we feel right now - oh lord it may go.
Put your hands on, put your hands on, put your hands on, put your hands on.
You know you cannot hide,
from what's inside.
So I ask of you, to help me through. I ask of you this thing to do:
put your hands on, put your hands on.
So lay me down for a while, join my body with my mind.
Oh I cried at the 'common one' 4 weeks aft' he died.
Put your hands on, put your hands on.

not a lot of difference really!

I agree with Toph, it seems so much better with 'put your hands up' but i still look like a pillock for typing 'up' so often. Aww. Well, atleast i know now :)

Regardless of your plight, the sog is much better with put your hands up, no many songs can get away with such a cheesey forced audience participation line.

They should officially release the exact same song but put the lyrics everyone thinks they hear in the sleeve so we can all put our hands up and have fun.

So the song is better the way we choose to hear it, not a big suprise.

OMG! Have been looking to download this song for ages and obviously couldn't find it with the wrong lyrics. Thanks!

Oops! I goggled the lyrics for this song because it sounded way too like 'Place your hands on my hole'. Didn't realise there was a much more anal retentive arguement to be had...

Posted by: Char on March 24, 2007 2:39 PM

I still think it sounds like "HOLE" and not hope...It seems more approprate as it rhymes with SOUL...

On the orginal note, my blood boils when people sing "hands UP" I attend anger managment afterwards. I just hate people collectively getting things wrong - That's why the Daily Mail pisses me off too, full of lies and blatant infactual info... Grrr those people.
