Well it's done. Over. Fitted. Works (for the time being).
Well that took longer than it should have done... had to sort of fumble my way through the HOW-TO and had to do lots of reboots and the like.
It didn't like mounting the root partition doing it the way it tells you to do it... so I had to bodge it with a boot disc (booting to an older kernel because the newer one won't fit on a floppy... grrr). Ah well. Bodging your way through it seems to be the way to do it on Linux :D
